Painting is on its canvas of origin, properly stretched. Presented under an aged varnish that was recently cleaned in parts of face and hands. We note light and scattered restorations.
The painting is an adaptation of Carlo Dolci’s composition in the Uffizi Gallery collections, Florence, Italy.
Archduchess Claudia Felicitas, Tyrol successor, was the second wife of Emperor Leopold I of Austria (1640-1705).
Carlo Dolci was a painter from Florence who specialized in private devotion works; in this portrait Dolci placed religious attributes around the Archduchess: Bible, crucifix enhanced with pearls and brocade with Mary Magdalene repenting.
