Large patinated bronze and yellow Sienna marble mantle clock. With signature of the clock maker on the dial and with "Callaud à Paris " (Pierre-Philippe) marked on the back.
Ulysses, one of the most well-known heroes in Greek mythology, is seated on a plinth containing the movement on which the dial is backed. Dial is shaped as a shield and chiselled with palm leaves. Rectangular base ornated by a trophy with helmets decorated with owls, one of the main symbols of the goddess Athena (protector of heroes), on the four feet. Original movement with a thread suspension, bell on hours and half hours on antique bell.
