Provenance: Former collection Louis Ginès, Aix-en-Provence.
Bibliography: Adrien Chappuis, "The Drawings of Paul Cezanne, a Catalogue Raisonné", New York Society editions, 1973, No. 36, reproduced in Volume II.
As shown in the catalog by Adrien Chappuis, the drawing is centered on a cut motif from an engraving or unidentified reproduction, but the sheet is actually larger (Perhaps Chappuis could not measure the drawing hence giving vague measurements: approximately 22 × 27cm [8-1/2 x 10-1/2]).
Louis Ginès, was the director of "le Feu", published in Aix-en-Provence between the two wars.
