Samson Manufacture, 19th century

Notes: Samson started his career making services and established replacement pieces from the 1830's. In 1845, he opened the ceramic company, Samson, Edmé and Co. on 7 rue Vendôme in Paris ( later on, rue Béranger) , with the intention of supplying ceramic reproductions of pieces exhibited in museums and private collections. [1] The factory was moved to Montreuil, Seine-Saint-Denis in 1864 by the son Samson, Emile Samson (1837-1913). The company drew its inspiration from other companies, or directly copied their pieces [2] 18th century drawings from factories such as Meissen, Sèvres, Chelsea, Worcester and Derby were among the reproductions produced by Samson, Edmé and Co., as well as other drawings from large European factories.
